Services for Roy Lee Stanley, 69, will be held on Thursday, Sep. 9, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Christopher's Church in Lubbock. Roy passed away Sunday, Sep. 5th at Covenant. He was born Jan. 27, 1941 in Raymondville, Texas to Oscar Lee and Viola Knox Stanley.

Roy completed his master's degree in entomology at Texas A&M and served as Second Lieutenant in the Army. In 1965 he married Catharine Ellen Johnston and in 1969 he & his family moved from Clovis to Lubbock.

Roy worked in field research for a chemical company and then owned his own agricultural consulting company, until he began farming in the Idalou/Lorenzo area, partnering with his son, Bryan. He also owned and operated a cattle ranch in Dickens County.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen of Lubbock; two sons, Bryan Stanley of Lubbock and Paul Stanley of Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Melinda Stanley; two grandchildren, Nolan Lee Stanley and Courtney Killam, both of Lubbock; a sister, Mabel Jarrett of Lubbock; as well as a brother, Lon Stanley
of Vanderbilt, Texas.
