James Bond
Bond, James Francis Rev. James Francis Bond passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on the morning of August 6, 2010. He was born in Bullard, Texas on April 2, 1930. He was the first son of
John and Archie Bond. He had three older sisters, who fondly nicknamed him "Buddy" and was followed by seven brothers. James graduated from Bullard High in 1947.
He served in the US Air Force and graduated from Howard Payne University in 1956. He also graduated from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas in 1959.
James met his wife Marion at the seminary and they were married for 52 years. James is survived by his four children Sue, Jim, Linn, and John; his sons and daughters by marriage Choc Christopher, Gail Bond,
Doug Cobb, and Donna Bond; and nine grandchildren Amy, Jon, David, Julie, Matt, Laura, Abby, Beth, and Mark.
James served as pastor of many Texas Southern Baptist Churches, including FBC Algoa, Old First Orange, FBC Navasota, Trinity Baptist Amarillo, and FBC Athens. Since his retirement in 1996 he served as an interim pastor in several churches throughout North Texas, including his final year in the pulpit at FBC Mineral Wells. Our father was a gifted preacher, humble servant, disciplined student of the bible, and a distinguished leader. He was diligent in prayer and deeply devoted to his church and family. We loved him and we will miss him.
A Memorial service will be Sunday, August 8, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Richardson. A reception for the family will be held at the church immediately following the service.
