CHARLES MILTON HUDGINS, JR. April 16, 1932-March 6, 2004 Charles Milton Hudgins, Jr., 71, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2004 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He died at home, surrounded by his loving family and close friends. He was born April 16, 1932, in Fort Worth, Texas. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Rachel Keen Hudgins and daughters, Laura and her husband Steve Zabinsky, of Seattle, WA, Donna Sue and husband, Randy Spear of Dolores, CO, and Marilyn and husband Robert McNeal of Spring, TX and his granddaughter, Rachel Virginia and step-grandson, Joshua David Spear; a sister, Gerry Carey, Amelia and John Matthews and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. There will be a void in all the hearts that he touched, and he will be greatly missed by all. Charles attended Texas A & M, receiving his BS and MS in Chemistry. He received his PhD in Chemistry at Louisiana State University. He served worldwide as a chemical engineer and corrosion expert in his own consulting business, Petrotech, Inc. and earlier in his career for Conoco, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Charles was a member of the American Society of Petroleum Engineers, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, the Texas A&M Letterman's Association, the Century Club, and was active during his lifetime in both the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches. In his lifelong association with the Boy Scouts of America, he was an Eagle Scout, received the God and Country Award, and was a beloved Explorer Post leader. A memorial service will be held in Houston at the John Wesley United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2004. In lieu of the usual remembrances, the family requests that anyone wishing to do so may make a donation on his behalf to the Boy Scouts of America or for a special memorial in Lake City.
