Roll Call Tribute

Gary W. Hipps, Sr. '59, 70, of Huntsville (formerly of Dallas) died June 7, 2008. He served in the U.S. Army as an air defense artillery officer for 26 years serving in Vietnam in 1969 and as a staff member of the joint chiefs in Washington, D.C. He retired in 1986 at the rank of colonel. He was then the facility maintenance director for the Texas Department of Corrections for 15 years, retiring in 2001. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; three children, including Gary, W. Hipps, Jr. '82; a stepdaughter; 11 grandchildren; and a brother.
