Robert "Bobby" Marks Sr. '58

Robert E. 'Bobby' Marks '58, 72, of Hoover, Ala. (formerly of New Orleans), died Jan. 26, 2009. He began his coaching career in Nederland. In 1968, he was hired as an assistant coach at Texas A&M. In 1972, he joined Coach Paul 'Bear' Bryant as an assistant coach at the University of Alabama, where he coached wide receivers and tight ends for 11 years. He then joined the Denver Broncos as a pro-football scout where he was for 10 years and part of three AFC championships. In 1993, he joined the Dallas Cowboys where he was a scout for seven years and part of two Super Bowl titles. He had lived in Tuscaloosa, Ala., for 34 years before moving to Hoover. He lettered in football at Texas A&M from 1955 through 1957 and was named All-Southwest Conference in 1957. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Ann; three sons; two daughters; and seven grandchildren.
