Reuben Burch Loggins Jr., DVM
Burch Loggins, DVM, age 76, of West Columbia, Texas passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 12, 2010. He was born February 10, 1934 in Houston, Texas to Reuben Burch and Edith Elizabeth (Weems) Loggins.
He was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church, and West Columbia Rotary Club, 50 years perfect attendance; Boy Scouts of America, Eagle Scout and Silver Beaver Awards; Past president of Brazoria County Fair Association; Columbia-Brazoria ISD School Board member for 18 years, Member of Texas Association of School Boards, Brazoria County Parks Board, Brazoria County Appraisal District; and Past President Columbia Historical Museum Association.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 15, 2010, at Columbia United Methodist Church in West Columbia with Rev. Greg Rogers officiating.
Burial will follow at Columbia Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Baker Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Coy Sims, Todd Loggins, Ben Loggins, Ray Sisson, Michael Vitek and Sandy Weems.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Welsch, Frank Mann DVM, Doug Balkum, Mike Reid, Greg Graham, Bob Schwebel DVM, Carlos Paniagua, Donald Wilson, Dr. Roy Ledbetter, Howard Pickle, Gary Sims and Jeff Morrow and the members of the West Columbia Rotary Club.
Burch is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna Ruth Loggins of West Columbia; son, R. B. 'Bubby' Loggins V and Lynn of West Columbia; daughter, Virginia Elizabeth 'Jenny Beth' Smith and Jeff Morrow of West Columbia; sister, Beth Roberts of College Station; grandchildren, Erin Vitek and Michael of League City, Reuben Burch 'Ben' Loggins VI and Jessica of Tomball, Todd Loggins of College Station, Chesney Sisson and Ray of West Columbia, and Coy Sims of West Columbia; great-grandchildren, Kaegan Sims of West Columbia, Haelie Sisson of West Columbia and Anabelle Loggins of Tomball.
He is preceded in death by his parents; R. B. Loggins III and Elizabeth Weems Loggins.
