PITTSFORD - Anthony J. "Tony" Tennien died unexpectedly Saturday, July 26, 2008, at his home in Pittsford.
He was born on Dec. 2, 1942, in Westfield, Mass., the son of Jerome and Mary (Harrington) Tennien.
Tony was a self-employed real estate appraiser for the past 35 years for Jerome Tennien Inc., the real estate appraisal company founded by his father.
He was a member of the Appraisal Institute, SRA designation. He was past president of the Vermont Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. He belonged to many appraisal organizations throughout his career and also taught appraisal courses.
He graduated from Castleton State College with a bachelor's degree in science and math and later graduated from Texas A&M with a master's degree in science. He was a schoolteacher at Windsor High School and MSJ before becoming a professional real estate appraiser.
He was a retired longtime member of the Pittsford Fire Dept. He served 20 active years. He was also an active member and lecturer at St. Paul's Masonic Lodge #25 FA&M in Brandon.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Martha "Mimi" Tennien of Pittsford; one daughter, Jennifer Hallock and her husband Shawn of Cornish, N.H.; one grandson, Zachary; a sister, Barbara Murphy of Putney; several nieces and nephews; as well as many extended
family members.
He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Putnam.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Pittsford.
Friends may call on Tuesday, July 29, from 4-7 p.m. at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford where a Masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
