Roll Call Tribute

Joseph L. Fulbright, Sr. '47, 84, of Waco died Sept. 19, 2009. He served in the U.S. Army in the 43rd Division, 169th Field Artillery Battalion in the Pacific during World War II and in the occupation of Japan. He joined General Dynamics in Fort Worth in 1951 and later worked at Magnolia Petroleum Co. in Oklahoma. He joined Rocketdyne in McGregor in 1955 and worked on the space programs from Mercury through the Space Shuttle. He retired as chief engineer at Hercules Inc. in McGregor in 1993 after 35 years of service. Survivors include his wife, JoEllen; three sons, including Patrick C. Fulbright '86 and Grady W. Fulbright '11; four daughters, including Barbara Fulbright Worley '78 and Rose Fulbright Abshire '83; 17 grandchildren, including Justin L. Lewis '03, Wesley R. Meyer '08, Jourdan A. Fulbright '09, Shylar Abshire '13 and Alyssa M. Lewis '13; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, John W. Fulbright '44 and Edward B. Fulbright '49; and two sisters.
