Roll Call Tribute

Joe A. Coughran, Jr. '46, 84, of Tilden (formerly of San Antonio, Atascosa County and Boerne) died Feb. 25, 2009. He was in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II, stationed in Florida and New York. He moved to Cotulla in 1949 to work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Soil Conservation Service. He moved to Tilden in 1950 and worked for 30 years as district conservationist with the SCS. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Hazel; a son, Christopher J. Coughran, Sr. '75; three daughters; 10 grandchildren, including Christina M. (Coughran) Delgado-Eberhardt '99 and Catherine M. (Coughran) Henry '08; a great-grandson; a brother, Theodore Coughran '53; and a sister.
