John E. Gossett '51, 77, of Houston died October 4, 2007 of congestive heart failure. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve at the rank of colonel in 1990. He was an agent for various insurance companies until 1968 when he started Gossett Insurance Service. He operated the firm with his wife until they sold it in 1996 due to his health problems, and fully retired in 2001. He was named Professional Agent of the Year for the State of Texas in 1982 and was listed as an honored professional in National Register's Who's Who in Executives and Professionals in 1995. He was fish yell leader and a member of the Ross Volunteers at Texas A&M. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Carolyn; two sons, David B. Gossett '79 and Brian D. Gossett '89; a daughter; two stepchildren; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
