Published in the Tyler Morning Telegraph on 4/14/2010 Lloyd W. Adams 1925-2010 Funeral services for Lloyd W. Adams, 85, of New Harmony are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010, in the New Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Robbie Caldwell and Neal Adams officiating. Interment will be in the New Harmony Cemetery under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors in Lindale. Mr. Adams died on Monday, April 12, 2010, in Tyler after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born on Jan. 29, 1925, in Concord to Carl Bryan and Attis Mae Allen Adams, and lived the majority of his life in the New Harmony community, involved in auto sales, raising cattle and was a real estate broker. Lloyd was a graduate of Lindale High School and Texas A&M University, class of '45, with a degree in animal husbandry. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force as a bombardier and navigator. Lloyd was a past president of the Tyler-Smith County A&M Club (1967-1968). He was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Bryan and Attis Mae Adams; infant brother, Bryan Adams; sister, Frances Phillips; and first wife, Frances Adams. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ione Adams of New Harmony; sons and daughters-in-law, Neal and Sonja Adams of Euless, and Ron and Pat Adams of Colleyville; stepchildren, Lee Anna and Len Stevens of Rowlett, Mark and Karen Little of Longview, and Jeff and Cheryl Little of Hawkins; brothers and sisters-in-law, C.D. and Opal Adams of Tyler, and Milton and Margie Adams of Tyler; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Deacons of New Harmony Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Harmony Baptist Church, 10251 Farm-to-Market Road 724, Tyler, 75704; or Heart to Heart Hospice, 1402 Rice Road, Suite 100, Tyler, 75703.
