Joseph Frederick "Joe" Mangel, Jr.

December 1, 1950 - March 3, 2026

Joseph Frederick Mangel, Jr., of Richmond, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on March 3, 2026.

Born on December 1, 1950, Joseph lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and devotion to family. He proudly served as a Merchant Marine and was among the first graduating class of Texas A&M University at Galveston. A lifelong supporter of the Texas A&M Aggies, he carried the Aggie spirit with pride throughout his life.

Joseph was known for his strong work ethic and his deep sense of responsibility to those he loved. After the passing of his father, he stepped into the role of family patriarch, providing guidance, support, and stability for his siblings. His home was always open to family and friends in need, and he was the kind of man people could rely on without hesitation.

More than anything, Joseph valued family. He was a devoted son, brother, and father whose quiet strength and generosity left a lasting impact on those around him.

He is survived by his son, Joseph Frederick Mangel, III; his siblings, Pauline Maxwell, Jerry Mangel, Dave Mangel, John Mangel, and Steven Mangel, along with several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Frederick Mangel, Sr. and Helen Mangel, and his siblings, Elizabeth Mangel and Michael Mangel.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Morton Cemetery in Richmond, Texas, where Joseph will be laid to rest beside his beloved parents.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Sean Mangel, Jonathan Mangel, Michael Mangel, Andrew Mangel, Daniel Mangel, and Paul Long.

Joseph will be remembered for his strength, his loyalty to family, and the steady presence he provided to those who needed him most.

Services are under the direction of Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors, 1201 4th Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471.
