Matthew James "Matt" Walsh

September 9, 1957 - April 24, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Matthew J. (Matt) Walsh of Kingwood, TX, born on September 9, 1957, announces his passing on April 24, 2023.

Matt is pre-deceased by his father, Charles (Chuck) Walsh of Canyon Lake, TX; left behind is his mother Sandra (Sandie) Walsh of Canyon Lake, TX, a sister Shauna (John) Hulecki, a brother John (Elly) Walsh of Bryan, TX, and a sister Erin (Wayne) Andreas of Vermont, IL. Matt had deep love for his daughter, stepchildren, step-grandchildren and all his wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.

Matt graduated from South Houston High School. He studied at Texas A&M University and University of Houston. He received his B.S. degree in business from the University of Houston, after which he became a successful oil and gas salesman and sales manager. His last position was Vice-President of M&I Electric, coordinating business in the United States and Brazil.

He wrote fun songs for his family and friends (even his beloved dogs) which demonstrates his love for music. He was an accomplished bassist. During his high school years, he was an integral part of a Catholic folk group which produced two albums of Christian music. One of his fondest memories was playing in a rock band at A&M. He also loved playing his guitar at family gatherings.

Another of Matt’s passions was cooking, especially smoked meats, all kinds of pasta dishes and pizza. "Pizza night" in the Walsh household will be remembered forever.

Matt had a great wit and could make people laugh. He was generous, loving and fun. He will be greatly missed.
