Todd Erskine '96 was promoted Aug. 3, 2025, to the rank of major general and assumed command of the 79th Theater Sustainment Command in Los Alamitos, California.
At Texas A&M, Erskine was commanding officer of Company B-2 in the Corps of Cadets, a Ross Volunteer and a member of Parsons Mounted Cavalry.

TEMPLE, Texas — The U.S. Army proudly announces the promotion of Todd L. Erskine, a fourth-generation Temple native and graduate of Temple High School, to the rank of Major General during a ceremony held at Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos, California, on August 3, 2025.Maj. Gen. Erskine now serves as the Commanding General of the 79th Theater Sustainment Command (TSC), one of the Army Reserve’s largest and most strategically vital logistics organizations. Headquartered in Los Alamitos, the 79th TSC provides mission command of sustainment forces worldwide, ensuring Army units are trained, equipped, and ready to support everything from combat operations to humanitarian relief.
His promotion and new command mark a significant milestone in a career spanning almost 30 years, including multiple deployments to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and throughout the Middle East in key leadership roles within U.S. Central Command in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Inherent Resolve. Prior to taking command of the 79th TSC, Maj. Gen. Erskine served as Commanding General of the 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) and Deputy Commanding General of the 377th Theater Sustainment Command, where he oversaw logistics operations during key Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) missions—including responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and Operation Allies Welcome.
A proud product of Central Texas, Maj. Gen. Erskine continues a distinguished family legacy of military service. His father, Colonel (Ret.) Mark Erskine, served honorably in the U.S. Army, reinforcing values that shaped his son’s journey. “Temple has been my home for more than 50 years, regardless of where I wear my combat boots,” said Maj. Gen. Erskine.
Maj. Gen. Erskine holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Texas A&M University, as well as Master's Degrees in Human Resource Management from Tarleton State University and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. His military education includes the Canadian Security Studies Programme, the Reserve Component National Security Course, and Advanced Joint Professional Military Education from the Joint Forces Staff College and most recently CAPSTONE.
Among his numerous military awards and decorations are the Legion of Merit with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Parachutist Badge, underscoring his contributions to national defense and leadership development.
He currently resides in Temple with his wife of 28 years, Amy, and their son Carson who is a senior in high school. They have 3 other children as well. Kate is a teacher at Rogers High School; Logan is a 2LT at Ft. Benning, Georgia; and Jackson and his wife, Kalan, farm and ranch in Buckholts. Todd is also a part-time Cattle Rancher.
The U.S. Army and the community congratulates Maj. Gen. Erskine on his promotion and expresses gratitude to the city of Temple for its continued support of America's service members.
