John J. Knott

September 27, 1969 - July 4, 2025

John J. Knott of Beaumont, Texas, formally of Refugio, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the age of 55. He was born on September 27, 1969, in San Antonio to John and Gladys (Flieller) Knott. John graduated from Refugio High School in 1988 and was a proud member of the Refugio Bobcat football team and the Bobcat track and field team. He attended Texas A&M University where he graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1992. He earned his master’s degree in environmental engineering from Texas A&I University, Kingsville, Texas. John was a Project Manager for Jacobs Engineering Inc.

John’s first love was his family. In 2004, he married the love of his life, Mercedes. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children, Joseph and Olivia. John was a devoted father and spent many hours watching Joseph play soccer. You could always find John and Joseph watching soccer and football games on their TV, computer, or phones. If the game was not going well, you could hear it. John enjoyed watching Olivia cheer and dance, and he was so proud to see her shine on the stage.

John is survived by his wife of 21 years, Mercedes; his son, Joseph; daughter, Olivia; his mother, Gladys Knott of Refugio; his sister, Lisa Williams (Ronnie) also of Refugio; his in-laws, Enrique and Maria Delgado of Puerto Rico; sisters-in-law, Mariangie Farias (Bernardo) of Florida, Lourdes Delgado-Lecároz (Carlos Olivencia) of Puerto Rico and Rosario Delgado-Lecároz (Eric Brockett) of Massachusetts; and many other family members and friends that loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, John Knott, Jr.
