Roll Call Tribute

David "Mitchell" Besser '10 August 6, 2025 6:03 PM updated: August 6, 2025 6:12 PM

David Mitchell Besser

February 6, 1988 - July 29, 2025

David Mitchell Besser—known to all who loved him simply as Mitchell—passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Orange, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love, quiet strength, and deep devotion to his family and friends.

Born on February 6, 1988 and raised in Texas, Mitchell graduated from Pearland High School in 2006 before earning his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Texas A&M University in 2010. An Aggie through and through, he proudly embraced the traditions and spirit of his alma mater.

Mitchell was the devoted husband of Jennifer, who he proclaimed was the love of his life and whom he first met in sixth grade. Married in Pearland in 2021, they recently celebrated four years of marriage built on friendship, commitment, and laughter. Together, they raised three children—Samuel, Reagan, and Jordan—who were the light of Mitchell’s life. Whether out on the boat, swimming in the backyard pool, or reading bedtime stories, he beamed with joy during every moment spent with them. Mitchell was, proudly and unequivocally, the best girl dad and boy dad ever—fatherhood was his greatest joy.

A passionate outdoorsman, Mitchell was an avid fisherman and duck hunter. Opening day of teal season was sacred, always spent in the duck blind with his dad, brother, and lifelong family friends. His favorite waters were split between Bastrop Bayou with his dad, and Port O’Connor with his sister Emily and brother-in-law Joe—both beloved retreats he hoped his children would love as much as he did.

As a son, brother, and friend, Mitchell was steady, thoughtful, and fiercely loyal. He gave selflessly, led with quiet integrity, and made everyone around him feel seen and cared for. Whether sharing stories with friends, tackling weekend projects, or simply being present, Mitchell gave everything—his heart, his time, his energy—at full throttle.

He is survived by his wife Jennifer and children Samuel, Reagan, and Jordan; his mother Faye Besser; his father James Besser and stepmother Bridget Besser; his brother Tommy Besser (wife Emma); nieces Camille and Grace; nephew Noble Besser; and sisters Emily Meyer (husband Joe) and Allison Besser. He was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Miller and grandfather Walter Noble Besser.

Mitchell’s absence is immeasurable—but so is the love he gave, and that love will continue to carry his family and friends through the days ahead.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church Pearland, 2314 N. Grand Blvd., Pearland, Texas 77581 with Rev. Reggie Clemons officiating.
