Shaun Francois Kallis, age 50, died at Baylor St. Luke’s in Houston, Texas, on July 25, 2025, after an expedient and aggressive battle with cancer. He was born in Nelspruit, South Africa, on November 12, 1974, to Alexander Richard Kallis and Rensia Lamprecht Kallis.
He graduated with a B.A. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University and M.B.A. from University of Houston Victoria. Shaun was married to his sweetheart and the love of his life Cherish Udall Kallis. At the time of his death he was a Project Engineer at Pepperl+Fuchs, he was the funniest and most fun loving engineer, according to a close colleague. Shaun was an active and beloved member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a two year mission for his church in Johanasburg, South Africa. Shaun was the kind of person who could light up any room, always upbeat, quick with a joke, and ready to listen.
He was deeply devoted to his family and was a cherished member of the Katy community, where he was known for his kindness and his willingness to help others. Shaun would always be there when someone needed a volunteer, never hesitating to step up and lend a hand. Shaun had a passion for music and a gift to be able to play any instrument, but playing guitar was the instrument he was most passionate about. He had a bi-weekly gig playing guitar and singing at Texas Tradition in Old Katy.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: son, Ethan Alexander Kallis, daughter, Hailey Ann Kallis, daughter, Caitlin Lily Kallis, daughter, Charlotte Grace Kallis; brothers, Wayne Richard Kallis, and Ryan Alexander Kallis and his wife Renelia.
Shaun’s viewing will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 9100 Heritage Bluff Dr. Richmond, TX. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 PM following the viewing.
