Son of Obence (Ben) Perez and Vangie P. Flores Born in Richmond, Texas on July 7, 1972, 1990 graduate of Needville High School Member of the National Honor Society, Needville High School Marching Band, Needville High School Yearbook Committee, Fort Bend County 4-HBlue Baron 4-H Club 1994 graduate of Texas A&M University Obtained a degree in Landscape Architecture. Member of Tau Sigma Delta Honor Society in Architecture and Allied Arts, and Sigma Lambda Alpha Delta Chapter Member of the Texas A&M University Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning Professional Advisory Board.
Eric was a committed volunteer and lived by his belief that "We volunteer and work behind the scenes because it is our passion." He was an active member of the Texas Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. In 2011 he served as the Houston Gulf Coast Secretary and continued the serve in the role of Chairman from 2013-2014. In 2013-2014 he was the Public Relations Chair for the National American Society of Landscape Architects as well as serving for the Texas Chapter. In 2024 he was elected as the President Elect and 2015-2016 and served as the Texas ASLA President. In 2020 Eric was elected to serve as Trustee and served in that capacity for the last five years. Eric was actively serving on the Development Corporation of Needville, his hometown. He mentored and guided many fellow landscape architects. Progressing from being employed by other firms, Eric began his own Landscape Architecture firm, VE:PEREZ Landscape Architecture, in 2020. Through this venture he was able to expand consulting and mentoring. Eric was also the owner of TheVaughnCreative an online store that showed his various collections of art pieces. This brought together various artful expressions of his creative energy.
Survived by mother, Vangie Flores, sister Valarie Campos and husband Ricardo, as well as his three beloved nephews, Ethan, Michael, and Gabriel and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his many friends and colleagues. Preceded in death by his father Obence (Ben) Perez, his maternal grandparents Mercedes and Jose Flores and his paternal grandparents Macario and Maria Eusebia Perez and other extended family members.
