James Leroy Hodnett, PhD 

April 1, 1938 - April 30, 2023 

Dr. James L. Hodnett passed away peacefully in his home on April 30, 2023. He was born in Durant, Oklahoma, on April 1, 1938, to James William and Inez O. Hodnett.

James received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University and his Doctorate from the University of Houston. Professionally James was a Molecular Biologist who was involved with Cancer Research, Toxicology Laboratory management and Environmental studies during his working life. Following his formal retirement, James resided in Sun City Georgetown where he was active in several clubs and regularly volunteered for the Habitat for Humanity Williamson County Re-store.

James is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Buzzy Hart of Boise, Idaho; son and daughter-in-law, James Edward and Denise Hodnett of Somerville, Texas; granddaughter, Christina Hodnett of Liberty Hill, Texas; grandson and wife James Austin and Shelby Hodnett of Jarrell, Texas; and great grandchildren Devin Mott of Liberty Hill, Texas and Amelia Hodnett of Jarrell, Texas.

A private memorial service will be held at the Hodnett Family gravesite in Marlow, Oklahoma later in May 2023.
