Paul Winter '75 July 15, 2025 7:13 PM updated: July 15, 2025 7:15 PM

Paul Raymond Winter

December 14, 1949 - October 23, 2023

Following a period of declining health, Paul Winter died at UPMC Hospital in Cumberland, Maryland, the hospital from which he retired.

Paul was the oldest of a large family of thirteen children and was predeceased by his father Ray Winter, and his brothers Mark, David, and Ken. His surviving family include siblings Betsy, Kate, Janet, Doug, Claire, Christine, Rick, Laurie, Rae and his mother, Alice Winter.

Paul was a private person who respected traditions and maintained proper decorum; he did not embrace the digital age. Paul’s educational accomplishments included a chemistry degree from the University of New Hampshire, ROTC meteorology studies at Texas A&M University and a pharmacy degree from the University of Rhode Island. Paul was a meticulous and dedicated pharmacist in Maryland for over 40 years.

He spent time jogging and was a referee for local volleyball and soccer teams. Golf was a pastime he enjoyed with friends and his brother Ken in Virginia. His interest in meteorology continued through his life.

Final arrangements are being made by Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A.
