Billy Ray Smith 

October 25, 1943 - August 14, 2024 

Billy Ray Smith, 80, was born on October 25, 1943 in Omaha, Texas to Willie Giles Smith and Irma Lou Roberts. He went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, August 14, 2024.

Billy attended Texas A&M University where he studied engineering. He had a long career with Tandy Corporation before retiring with FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). He was an avid hunter. He particularly enjoyed quail hunting with his father and his son. Above all, Billy was passionate for Jesus. He had the heart of a servant and his race here on Earth was full of love and compassion.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Giles Smith and Irma Roberts. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Suzanne Smith; Children, Jefrey Smith, Jill (Smith) and her husband Dean Myers, Robert Myers, Gabrielle Fass, James Fass; grandchildren, Amber, Kennedie, CJ (Christopher), Nathan, Delanee, Evan, Dylan, and Avery; as well as 2 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members.

A funeral service honoring his life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 17, 2024 in the Chapel of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home of Daingerfield.
