Roll Call Tribute

Michael Ploch '79 May 14, 2025 2:16 PM updated: May 14, 2025 2:24 PM

Michael Anthony Ploch

September 9, 1957 - May 23, 2024

On September 9, 1957, in San Antonio, Texas, Michael Anthony Ploch was born to Fred and Mary Ploch, the seventh of their eleven children. Mike's upbringing taught him the importance of family, and installed in him a sense of honesty and integrity as well as an unwavering work ethic, leading him to graduate from Canyon High School in 1975. He began Texas A&M in the fall before returning home to work for his family's construction company, and later leaving to pursue his own path.

In February of 1979, Mike met Michele at a dance, and they were engaged by June. Michele was immediately drawn to Michael’s kind and gentle nature coupled with his grace on the dance floor. The two married in August of 1980 and began building their life together. In 1983 they welcomed their first son, Jason, followed by Adam in 1985, and Ryan in 1989. Michael was successful at whatever he put his mind to, and tirelessly nurtured his legacy through hard work, patience, and dedication. He began his company, Powerhouse Energy Rentals, guiding its growth and working alongside Adam and Ryan. As his success in business grew, so too did his desire to give back to his family, his church, and his community.

Michael had a servant’s heart that showed through in everything he set upon, but especially the causes he supported, through his unending love for Michele, his boys, and his church and community. Though he held the title of husband, father, brother, uncle, company owner, and friend, nothing brought him more joy in life than the title of Papaw. His beaming smile and gracious laughter shown through when he was surrounded by his grandchildren whom he loved so dear.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Mary Ploch, his mother-in-law Rose Jupe, his siblings Leslie Ploch and Deborah Ploch, and his son Jason Ploch.

Michael is survived by his loving wife Michele Ploch, their sons along with their families: Adam, Adam’s wife Kristi and daughter Reagan Ploch; Ryan, Ryan’s wife Lauren and their children Caroline Ploch, Eleanor Ploch, and Harrison Ploch. Michael is also survived by his father-in-law Dennis Jupe, his brothers and sisters: Sandra Schwartz; Priscilla Ballard; Freddie Ploch; Greg Ploch; Bryan Ploch; Margaret Fritz; Mark Ploch; Tracey Kunz and countless nieces and nephews.

Though no longer with us in body, Mike’s spirit will forever act as a guiding beacon for his family, and may God’s perpetual light shine upon him.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:15 p.m. at Finch Funeral Chapel. A Funeral mass will held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in La Vernia, Texas.
