Donna (Rothermel) Hirst 

April 15, 1943 - April 15, 1943 

Donna Rothermel Hirst, 81, of Katy, Texas, passed away on May 26, 2024 surrounded by family.

Donna was born in Mount Carmel, PA on April 15, 1943 to Willard and Hilda Rothermel, and began fostering her love for music at a young age. She attended Mount Carmel High School before attending Susquehanna University.

On June 13, 1964 she married Edmund (Ted) Hirst. They later relocated to Katy, Texas with their family in the 1970's.

After receiving her Masters in Education from Texas A&M University, Donna began working at Katy Junior High where she proudly taught for more than 30 years.

After a brief time apart, Donna and Ted remarried on June 8, 1991 in Katy, Tx.

Donna was a loyal and dedicated charter member of Living Word Lutheran Church in Katy. Throughout her lifetime, she was very involved in the church's music ministry. She served by playing piano, being a choir member, a bell choir member, and directing the children's chime choir.

Donna is survived by her children, Ted III and his wife Roberta, daughter-in-law Amy, and Scott and his wife Roxana; grand-children Rowan and Riley Hirst, Alex Grosnick, AJ, and Katherine Hirst, and Gabby, Scott Jr, and Grace Hirst; five great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister, Ray Rothermel and Kay Shulski.

She was preceded in death by brother, John Rothermel; and husband Ted Hirst.
