Howard Fisher Beaman, Jr.

September 7, 1937 - January 29, 2025

Howard F. "Buddy" Beaman (87) passed away January 29, 2025 in Houston, Texas of cancer. He was born in Galveston, Texas to Howard Fisher Beaman and Marguerite "Margie" (Kasper) Beaman also of Galveston. Buddy leaves behind his wife of 40 years Carol Schneider Acker; his children Randy (Veronica), Julie and Michelle; his sister Betty Sue (RayBob) Frizzell. grandchildren Brian and Chelsea Bailey, Rachael (Jacob) Tipton, Nicholas (Rachel) Beaman, and Dominic Morris. Great grandchildren Alyssa Smith, Jake, Tuff, and Pearl Tipton, Gavin Morris. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, twin brothers Billy and Bobby, and numerous dear friends.

Buddy loved his Galveston roots. Growing up in Galveston, he collected bottles, took on a paper route, mowed lawns, learned carpentry from his father, and plumbing from his uncle. He was a member of the Ball High School graduating class of 1955. Buddy attended Texas A&M University and earned a degree in Business Administration. He was a member of the Corps and had been a proud Aggie ever since. After graduation, he served in the Army National Guard Reserves Galveston Unit.

He always knew he wanted to have his own business. With a keen eye for opportunities, he saw a need in the metal building industry to provide fasteners. In 1963, he started a business in his garage. He called on customers during the day, and at night, did shift work for the power company until 1965 when the business could sustain itself and provide for the family. As the business picked up, it expanded to include multiple types of fasteners across several industries for 60 years. Buddy was committed to his employees and their families. He was a hands-on kind of man whether it was administrative responsibilities, building maintenance, or donning the Santa suit for the Christmas party.

Buddy met Carol at the bank he used in Houston. They dated for a while and tied the knot in 1985. Carol introduced Buddy to traveling. They were able to visit most of the US states and several countries. For many years they were members of Galveston's Mardi Gras Krewe of Gambrinus; serving in many roles. He loved driving his American Zimmer in parades and to College Station to watch the Aggie games at the Alumni Center. Buddy had built a bay house on Tiki Island in the late 1970s where family and friends enjoyed life on the water. He enjoyed fishing from his pier, his neighbors piers, and his secret spot. When his freezer was full, it was time to put on a fish fry. He and Carol enjoyed entertaining with many friends. He loved to go junking for scrap materials and build things that were needed. He liked working with his hands. Staying busy eased his mind.

Buddy was known to be kind, generous, and had a great sense of humor. He liked corny jokes and puns, and little gag toys. Like his mother, he enjoyed it when little kids were around. He and Carol took care of many children. They loved the time he spent with them and he never lost sight of the kid within himself.

He held his faith in God and the teachings of Christ close to his heart. He loved the old hymns of his youth and watching services on Sunday mornings.

Anyone who spent time with Buddy may carry with them his parting words: "Be Sweet".
