George Douglas Weatherston

March 4, 1928 - November 10, 2024

George Douglas Weatherston, 96, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on November 10, 2024. He was born on March 4, 1928, in Dallas, TX.

George spent his early years in Laredo and Houston before moving to San Antonio, Texas. There he met, his almost next-door-neighbor, Ann Waide, who became his loving wife for the next 52 years. Shortly after their marriage and birth of their first two children, they moved to Pleasanton, Texas in 1954 where they bought and built a family home on the old Paul Anderson farm, which they renamed and christened the "Hacienda Bonita." Here they raised a family of five children and created memories that family and friends will forever cherish. George joined his father, Douglas, in a fledgling oil and gas exploration company initially known as Weatherston Oil Company. In his spare time he turned the old farm into a viable cattle ranch making improvements to the land and being a respectful steward thereof. With his dedication that fledgling oil company grew and over time became Discorbis Oil Company. George was a longstanding member of the South Texas Geological Society and the Petroleum Club.

After becoming empty nesters George and Ann sold "The Bonita" and spent their remaining years in San Antonio. George was a devoted son who personally visited or called on his mother every day of her life. He provided for his family, gave each of his children the opportunity of a college education and instilled within them the foundations for success, happiness and an appreciation of those who came before.

George, affectionately called Jorge, is survived by his children, George Douglas Weatherston Jr. (Louis), Lindsay Ann Weatherston Hart, Mark Weatherston (Phyllis), Peggy Sue Weatherston Klein (William "Butch"), Nicholas David Weatherston (Janet), grandchildren Gary Marvin (Jennifer), Shannon Brown (Rocky), Ryan Weatherston (Laura), Carolyn McBryde (Robbie), Butchie Klein (Matt), Joshua Weaver (Lauren), Marci Gutierrez (Michael), Emily Iturbe (Diego), Landry Yarborough (Taylor), Mallory Weatherston, and great grandchildren, Lexi Call, Jax Brown, Charley Brown, Samantha Marvin, Emmett McBryde, Liam McBryde, Teddy Weatherston, George Weatherston, Helen Weatherston, Mason Gutierrez, Maximo Gutierrez, Alexander Gutierrez, Oliver Weaver, Layla Weaver, and Luca Iturbe.

George was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Elona Warfield Weatherston, his father, Douglas Weatherston, and his wife, Ann Waide Weatherston.

George attended San Jacinto High School in Houston, TX, studied towards a degree in Geology from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX and was a longtime standing member of the Texas A&M Century Club.

A long life well-lived did not happen without the care of others in his later years. The family would like to give special thanks to the Miguel Paredes family for round-the-clock daily care and love over the last ten-plus years.

George passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and caretakers in song and prayer. A private celebration of life will take place at a later date. May he rest in peace.
