Calvin Lee Zabcik 

March 21, 1931 - December 15, 2024 

Dr. Calvin Lee Zabcik, age 93, of Conway, Arkansas formerly of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 15, 2024.

Born March 21, 1931 at Temple, Texas, he was a son of the late Frank Jerry Zabcik and Ellen Jecmenck Zabcik. He was reared and educated at Zabcikville in East Bell County. He graduated from Texas A&M University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering.

Dr. Zabcik started his teaching career in Monahans and Houston, Texas where he taught drafting, woodworking, and engineering. He began teaching at the college level at the University of Texas at Arlington and started his post-graduate work at Texas A&M University. He pursued his education at A&M, earning a Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Industrial Engineering.

He co-authored an engineering and drafting workbook and compiled a genealogy of his family history.

From 1966-1976, he taught Industrial Education at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. In 1976 he and his wife moved to Pine Bluff where he worked at Florida Drum Company, retiring in 1994.

After his retirement, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was an active member and leader at Good Faith-Carr United Methodist Church (now Faith Community Church).

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Carol Kasner Zabcik, whom he married on December 20, 1954; three daughters, Renee Mays of Grapevine, Arkansas, Sharon Barnes (David) of Rowlett, Texas, and Becky Fore of Conway, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Candy Phillips (Wade), Amber Simon, Ashley Delk Drye (Chris), and Jeremy Barnes (Lauren); nine great-grandchildren, Liam, Aedan, and Rylan Simon, Jaxson Delk, Kristopher Phillips, Jack Barnes, Charlotte Barnes, Taylor Lawson, and Brandon Phillips; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 28, 2024, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son in Pine Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Leon Jones and Rev.
