Roll Call Tribute

Leisha Mogford '80 January 6, 2025 4:12 PM updated: January 6, 2025 4:17 PM

Leisha Hill Mogford

September 30, 1957 - December 20, 2024

Leisha Hill Mogford passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, at the age of 67, surrounded by her loving family.

Leisha was born on September 30, 1957, in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, to Joyce Louise Tomerlin and Billy Gene Hill. She grew up with a strong sense of family and service, values that guided her throughout her life.

Leisha was the cornerstone of her family, dedicating her life to her loved ones with boundless energy and love. Her devotion to her children was unparalleled, particularly her advocacy for her “little angel,” Megan, and other children with special needs. Leisha immersed herself in her children’s lives, whether volunteering at their schools, preparing animals for livestock shows, or serving as president of the local Little League.

Leisha’s greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren. “Nana” loved her lengthy weekend conversations, morning chats during school drop-offs, and celebrating their academic and athletic achievements. She was their biggest cheerleader, always ready to share stories of their milestones.

Leisha graduated from Uvalde High School and was a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 1980. She met her husband, David, while attending Texas A&M University, beginning a love story that spanned decades. Together, they took immense pride in watching their sons, Tyler and Justin, follow in their footsteps as Texas A&M graduates.

A memorial service to honor Leisha’s extraordinary life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Leisha’s memory to an organization that supports children with special needs. Leisha’s unwavering love, strength, and dedication will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

Leisha was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved daughter, Megan Louise Mogford, and her sister, Cynthia Ann Hill.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, David Mogford; her sons, Tyler Mogford of Bryan, Texas, and Justin Mogford and his wife, Courtney, of Friendswood, Texas; her cherished grandchildren, Luke, Lila, and Ella Mogford; and her siblings, Billy Gene Hill Jr. and Terry Hill Lackey.
