Come to the All ’90s Tailgate on Aug. 31!

Susan "Sue" Owen '94 July 10, 2024 3:12 PM updated: August 26, 2024 10:33 AM

We’re bringing the ’90s back for one day in Aggieland!

Come to the first ever All ’90s Tailgate on Aug. 31 for Texas A&M's first home game (BTHO Notre Dame).

EVERY member of the Texas A&M Classes of the 1990s plus their family and friends are invited!

This event is hosted by the Classes of 1994 and 1999 and The Association of Former Students to bring together as many Aggies from the glory days as we can. Whoop!

  • Fajita buffet and cash bar
  • Big tent in the heart of Aggie Park with fans, chairs and tables
  • Tailgate is 3:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.; kickoff is at 6:30.
  • NEW: Mini Yell Practice at 4 p.m. led by Texas A&M former yell leaders Waylan Cain ’90 and Ed Allred ’90. WHOOP! (All '90s yell leaders are welcome, if they can come!)
  • ESPN College Gameday will be broadcasting from Aggie Park 8 a.m.-11 a.m.
  • FAQ below has more info!

Get tickets

Tailgate tickets are $40 before Aug. 9, and $50 after! Ticket sales close Aug. 23.

Tell your buddies, and come show why the 1990s rocked at Texas A&M!

Friday, Aug. 30: DIXIE CHICKEN, WAR HYMN STATUE, MIDNIGHT YELL PRACTICE

UPDATE: Heavy crowds are expected on Northgate, so instead of trying to meet up there, we will meet at 11 p.m. at the War Hymn Statue. Remember, the clear-bag policy is in effect at Kyle Field for Midnight Yell Practice just like the game!

  • 9 p.m. We can meet up out back of the Chicken and meander, depending on what's crowded. Look for gray hair/no hair! Wear a ’90s shirt if you have one :) Northgate parking info
  • 10:30 p.m. We'll depart from the front sidewalk of the Chicken about 10:40 p.m. to walk to the War Hymn Statue on the east side of Kyle Field.
  • 11 p.m. Meet behind the War Hymn Statue (so we don't block people in front of it taking photos). We will wait at this rally point for maybe 10 minutes, and then all walk into Midnight Yell together!

SATURDAY TAILGATE FAQ:

Can we come-and-go once the tailgate opens? Yes! We will have wristbands for everyone who has paid for the fajita buffet, so they can easily be identified.

Can we bring our kids? Absolutely, and we would love to meet them! Kids can get in free if they don’t eat from the buffet; if you would like them to eat from the buffet, they’ll need a full-price ticket, which gets them the buffet wristband.

Are there dietary options? Yes, the buffet will include water, tea and dietary-restricted food options.

Will the "cash bar" take credit cards? Yes! The bartenders will accept plastic. We're told the drinks will cost about $5-$15.

How can I find the tailgate location or tell my friends where it is? Use this Google map pin! tx.ag/90sTailgateSite2024

What time is march-in? We believe march-in will be at 5 p.m. (90 minutes before kickoff); details and the route will be posted soon at corps.tamu.edu/events

Why am I not getting the emails letting me know about the tailgate? It’s possible that either your current email address or your Class year aren’t up to date with The Association of Former Students. You can check and fix these at tx.ag/Profile. You may have to create an AggieNetwork.com login, but it’s free, just takes a couple seconds and allows you access to the Find An Aggie database!

How do I watch ESPN College Gameday’s live broadcast that morning in Aggie Park? They’ll be broadcasting 8 a.m.-11 a.m. in Aggie Park – but they will start taking down the stage and equipment after the broadcast ends. (Our tailgate doesn’t open till 3:30 p.m.) If you want to attend the broadcast in the morning and try to get on TV, the “pit” where people wave signs will open at 5:30 a.m. and you CAN’T bring in bags – even clear bags. Here is more info: tx.ag/ESPNGameDayFAQ. If you do, please bring your sign to the tailgate – we want to see!

Cancellation policy: The Association of Former Students has a fairly flexible cancellation policy. If you cannot attend this tailgating event, please contact the Class Programs team (979-845-5670) no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23. Your payment will be refunded with the exception of the registration fees. Registration changes or cancellations after the Aug. 23 deadline cannot be refunded as food orders will have been guaranteed.

Why are the tailgate tickets $40? So, it turns out a catered event with food service and bartenders in the middle of gameday is not too cheap, even with The Association providing the tent and waiving some fees. The original package price quoted was $58 per person, but the Class of ’94 used some funds to reduce that to $40 (early-bird price) per person, because we all wanted as many people as possible to attend; we considered it part of our mission to build camaraderie and keep our Classmates connected to each other and to Aggieland!
