Robert Newton "Bob" Cain 

December 12, 1936 - November 25, 2023 

Robert Newton (Bob) Cain was born on December 12, 1936, in Graham, Texas, to Luther and Anna Dunagan Cain.

Bob died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on November 25, 2023.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at First United Methodist Church in Graham.

Visitation will be Friday, December 1 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.

Bob graduated from Graham High School in 1955. While in high school he was the place kicker for the football team, co-captain of the basketball team, and was chosen as class favorite during his senior year.

Bob followed his two older brothers to A&M College of Texas. He graduated from A&M in 1959. He was commissioned into the US Army upon graduation.

In January of 1957 Bob married Rubyetta Easterling from Graham. They have two children: Bobby Cain and Renee Spratlen. He went to work for Jones Blair Paint Co. in 1960 and was employed there for 45 years.

Bob & Rubyetta raised their family in Lubbock, Texas - where they lived for 35 years.

Bob was most proud that his two children and all grandchildren graduated from Texas A&M University.

Both prior to and following retirement Bob was active as a local rancher and served in the Young County USDA office.

Bob was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Graham where he served on and chaired several committees.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Pat Cain.

Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rubyetta; his son Bobby Cain and wife, Anne of College Station; daughter Renee and husband, Kevin Spratlen of Plano. Grandchildren: Trent Cain (Emilie) of League City; Adam Cain (Lydia) of Boerne; Lamar Ball of Silver Springs, MD; Madison Ptomey (Patrick) of Dallas; Taylor Nobles of Sydney, Australia; Brock Spratlen (Moriah) of Houston; and Trey Spratlen of Crosby. Great grandchildren: Kyleigh & Peyton Cain, Jackson & Nolan Cain, Isla & Jasper Spratlen. Bob is also survived by his brother Harry Cain of Houston and numerous nieces and nephews.
