Michael Jerome "Mike" Vernone 

January 21, 1962 - July 7, 2023 

Michael passed away on July 7th, 2023 at the age of 61. 

Michael J. Vernone was born January 21, 1962, in Okinawa, Japan to Merle and Ann Vernone. He was the oldest of four children. As an Air Force brat, Michael lived abroad early in his childhood but was raised primarily in San Antonio, Texas.

He graduated from Texas A&M University and earned his law degree at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, the city where he built his life and became his home.

An attorney by profession, musician by heart, and chef by passion, Michael epitomized the modern Renaissance Man. Even though Michael was a prominent and respected business attorney in Dallas, he was perhaps best known for his charitable work through The Dallas Margarita Society and the Dallas Safari Club. There is neither enough room to share all of Michael’s accomplishments, skills, and gifts, nor adequate words to describe what he meant to those who loved him. His loss will be felt by many. We are grateful that loss is eased by the legacy of his compassionate and steadfast commitment to his family, friends, and community.

Michael passed from this life to the next on July 7, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Ann Vernone, and his brother, Mark Vernone. He is survived by his sisters Maryann Lupton (Simon and nephew David), Michelle Vernone, and each of you, who have been touched by Michael’s life.

A Memorial Service for Michael is scheduled for August 15, 2023 at 1:00pm CST and will be held at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel – Downtown (in the “Dallas Ballroom”) located at 400 Olive Street, Dallas, TX 75201.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Michael’s name to either The Dallas Margarita Society or the Dallas Safari Club.
