Roll Call Tribute

Ronald "Ron" Gooch '70 July 5, 2023 4:03 PM updated: July 5, 2023 4:10 PM

Ronald W. Gooch

July 28, 1948 - June 14, 2023

Ron Gooch, 74, was born in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Bryan, Texas, but met his wife, Sharron, in Germany where they were both serving in The Air Force Reserves. He was a military fighter pilot, a commercial airlines pilot, and a personal financial planner. He earned his MBA at Texas A&M University.

He treasured his country, had a love for flying, a passion for Aggie Football, and an even greater love for his family. He looked forward to family gatherings, traveling internationally, watching old Westerns, BBQs, and boating. Christmas parties were enjoyed by all as he played Santa for over 50 years. He looked forward to the July birthday bash and family reunions. Above all, Ron was a fighter and gave his all during his valiant seven year battle with cancer.

He loved life and was a member of the 12th Man Association, Airline Pilots Association, the VFW, and Quiet Birds Association.

He has been reunited with his mother, Mary Louise Gooch; father William Raymond Gooch; and grandson Cameron Travis Gooch.

Ron is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sharron; children, Dawn Marks and husband Anthony, Jason Gooch and wife Stephanie, and Aaron Gooch and wife Emmie; grandchildren, Chelsey Rasinski and husband Jason, Clay Marks and wife Tara, Amanda Hearn and husband Hunter, Steven Gooch, Lindsey Gooch, and Audrey Gooch; and great grandchildren Madison Rasinski, Natalee Rasinski, Briar Rasinki, Blazen Rasinski, Hagen Rasinski, and a future little one in October.

The family sincerely thanks Accentcare for their wonderful care of Ron during our most difficult times.
