Roll Call Tribute

James "Jim" Goldsmith Sr. '64 April 27, 2023 4:34 PM updated: June 27, 2023 5:07 PM

James Walter "Jim" Goldsmith, Sr.

August 21, 1942 - August 21, 2022

On his 80th birthday, James Walter Goldsmith was called home to be with the Lord as he passed away. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his death.

Jim was married to the love of his life, Loretta, for just over 60 years. They met as freshmen at Needville High School where they were saxophone players in the Blue Jay Band.

He received his Bachelor's degree in Education from Texas A&M University in 1964. His career was in education, coaching and in business as a State Farm insurance agent.

He was the best coach, encourager and mentor to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed his beloved Texas A&M Football Team, fly fishing, golf, bird hunting with his Brittany Spaniels, and raising miniature horses. But he was most passionate about his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Loretta; two children, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
