Linda Reid '80 March 22, 2023 12:44 PM updated: March 22, 2023 1:21 PM

Linda Ann Sneider Reid
October 10, 1957 - February 1, 2023

Linda Ann Sneider Reid was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 10, 1957 to Robert and Ramona Sneider. She passed away peacefully in Texas City, Texas on February 1, 2023 at the age of 65 years.

Linda is survived by her husband of 38 years, Charles Lee Reid, 67 of Texas City, Texas; her son Chris Reid, 35 of Houston, Texas; her daughter Catie Reid, 33 of Houston, Texas; her brother Tim Sneider and wife June of Clear Lake Shores, Texas; her brother John Sneider and wife Dorothy of Houston, Texas; and treasured family across the U.S. and the world.

Linda was born in New Orleans, Louisiana where her father was working in the Oil and Gas industry, but she soon moved to Houston, Texas, then to Bakersfield, California, and finally back to Houston, Texas where she grew up.

She attended Texas A&M University where she met her husband in a dance class. Dancing was a favorite hobby for many years. Linda moved back to Houston after graduation to start a career at Baylor College of Medicine research lab. She was married in September of 1984, living in Houston and attending Saint Thomas More Catholic Church.

Charles' career took the couple to Holland for over a year starting in 1996. Returning to the U.S., Linda and Charles moved to Katy in 1999, attending Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church in Katy. Linda enjoyed nature and was fond of the nearby accessible land of the Katy Prairie Conservancy. She enjoyed birding, sewing, and cooking. Linda was an avid genealogist, researching both her husband's and her own family ancestry for many years. She was a Girl Scout leader shepherding a flock of Daisies through to becoming Senior Scouts. She learned to sail at the Casa Mare Girl Scout camp as a youth. She returned as a mentor and senior camp cook while continuing the legacy with her daughter at the same camp.

Her love of the sea and nature was an influence on moving in 2014 to Texas City, Texas to a beautiful home on the waters of Moses Lake. Viewing lovely sunsets over the lake and bay, watching pelicans and dolphins off the Texas City Dike, and visiting Galveston Island were favorite pastimes.

She also enjoyed her second home in String Prairie, Texas on her husband's family land and visiting the beautiful "painted church" of Saint Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. She enjoyed nature on the rural property where she and Charles built a cedar cabin filled with family memories. She had a certain fascination with the cattle roaming the land and joyfully celebrated the new birth of the calves each spring.

In lieu of normal remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to:
