In just a few days, Aggies uploaded shirts from four decades of Elephant Walks when we put out the first call in November!
The earliest so far is Class of ’81, and there are just a few gaps to fill.
Classes for which we need clear, high-resolution photos of senior Elephant Walk shirts:

When we tried taking photos like this, as you can see, we kept getting our phone's shadow in the picture. That's OK! Just get the shadow as far to one side as you can, and photograph the whole area, so that we can crop it later:

If we can complete the collection, we’re planning a virtual “quilt” online and in Texas Aggie magazine to celebrate the upcoming 100th anniversary of the first senior Elephant Walk, which took place in 1925.
The earliest shirt we’ve seen so far is Class of ’81. They held a competition to create Elephant Walk shirts, and yell leader Dan Quinn ’81 won with the design pictured below (photo submitted by Vickie Lee ’81).

In many years, the junior Class as well as the senior Class produced shirts. In fact, we might be lacking a Class of '97 senior shirt because their junior shirt was apparently a big favorite - we got several photos of it!
It's not clear how far back the tradition of Elephant Walk shirts goes, and there's no complete record of all the designs. Elephant Walk itself is over a century old — a tradition whose history began in 1922 when A&M Class of 1926 freshmen marched around campus after football games to show spirit.
The true 100-year anniversary of Texas A&M's senior Elephant Walk will come in 2025, a century after that Class of 1926 took a final walk around campus together as seniors.
With your help, a gallery of Elephant Walk shirts could be ready to help celebrate that century mark!
