Kim Di Biaggio '86 sent Association staff this story of a lost Aggie Ring being returned to her father, Stan Perkins '52, over a year later by new homeowners.
Let me tell you a little story, Ags....
Last summer (2021), my 92-year-old dad (Class of '52) lost his very well-worn Aggie ring in Creede, Colorado. They live in Tyler, Texas, but would spend their summers at their house in much-cooler Colorado.
He was devastated. He is one of the proudest Aggies you’d ever meet. He had worn that Ring every day of his life since he received it all those years ago. My mom had a diamond put in it at some point (maybe the '80s or early '90s?) She has since passed, so that made the Ring even more precious.
They searched everywhere with metal detectors, all over Creede, in their house/garage, as well as where their cars are parked and couldn't find it. My stepmom purchased him a new Ring for his birthday last fall, but of course it just wasn't the same.
Fast forward to Friday morning (Sept. 2)... they sold the house last fall. He woke up to a text with the pic below from the new homeowners! They were playing out in the yard with their dog and saw something shining in the sunlight in a random spot in the yard, where he would have never gone. We figure an animal must have picked it up and moved it or something. SO CRAZY!! But what a great lost Aggie Ring story.
