Marilyn Marek Schroer, 66, of Newberry, SC, died on Sunday, February 13, 2022 in Columbia, South Carolina.

Mrs. Schroer was born in Garland, Texas on February 1, 1956, she was the daughter of Joe Lee and Martha M. Marek. Marilyn was a retired professor from Newberry College and was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Columbia.

She is survived by her husband, Nathan A. Schroer '85; sons, Joseph (Kasey) Schroer of Columbia and David Schroer of Newberry; sisters, Melinda Janecka of Terrell, Texas, Melissa Hutchison of Garland, Texas and Melanie Olmstead of Independence, Mo.

The family will receive friends at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Burial will be held in Rosebud, Texas at a later date.

The family suggests memorials be made to Newberry College, 2100 College Street, Newberry SC 29108.
