Joseph L. Mashburn
June 24, 1941 ~ July 11, 2021 (age 80)

Joseph L. Mashburn ’82, an Outstanding Alumnus of the College of Architecture, passed away July 11. Mashburn, who earned a Master of Architecture degree at Texas A&M, was a member of the Aggie faculty and a graduate design program coordinator from 1982-88.

“He was a talented designer, a transformational teacher, and a wonderful colleague,” said David Woodcock, Texas A&M Professor Emeritus of Architecture.

Mashburn served as dean of the University of Houston Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture from 1998-2009, where his accomplishments included establishing the first industrial design program in Texas and the Burdette Keeland, Jr. Design Exploration Lab.
