A Message From Our CEO

Howdy! I pray that you all remain healthy as we navigate the temporary new normal in our world today.

I have been encouraged, but not surprised, to see Aggies reaching out to one another and lending a helping hand. I fully anticipate that when we emerge from this disruption, Texas A&M and Texas Aggies will be among those leading the way. The Aggie Network is resilient, and we will come through this time stronger and more united than ever before.

Thanks to the steadfast support of the Aggie Network, The Association of Former Students is weathering this storm and continuing to serve Texas A&M and Aggies worldwide.  We are looking carefully at expenses, and will honor our commitments to Texas A&M University.  Our operations remain at full capacity, with our staff available to assist you while working remotely.

During this time, the well-being of our team and those we serve are first and foremost as we make decisions. With that in mind, we have modified our operations as listed below:

  • Operations of The Association of Former Students will continue via phone, email and web, while the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center is closed in accordance with precautions advised by the Centers for Disease Control to promote social distancing. We will evaluate this condition weekly and will lift this restriction when deemed appropriate.
  • Association staff will be working remotely, but are available by phone or email. You can call (979) 845-7514 to reach staff, or visit the About Us tab on AggieNetwork.com to reach a staff member by email.
  • Our staff will refrain from travel during this time, but are available to join you for virtual meetings.
  • All events scheduled in the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center through May 10 have been canceled or postponed. 

 

Event-specific information is provided below: 

  • Aggie Rings that were to be distributed in April were shipped to the Ring recipients. Read more about Ring delivery here.
  • We conducted the annual Worldwide Muster Roll Call from the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center on April 21. This observance, initiated in 2018 and streamed live, ensures that each of the 1,600-plus names on the Worldwide Roll will be called and answered with “here.” Additionally, we worked with Texas A&M, local A&M Clubs and the student Muster Committee to create a virtual Muster community at MusterLive.AggieNetwork.com.
  • Class Reunions planned for April and May have been postponed, and attendees have been notified of these plans. 

 

Like each of you, we are taking this situation day by day and revaluating each day to make decisions in the best interest of our organization. We remain in close contact with the leadership at Texas A&M, who are to be commended for the tough decisions they are making for the well being of Texas A&M students. The university moved to online classes beginning March 23, and you can read more about their operations during this time at www.tamu.edu/coronavirus

I know we will all learn a great deal from this experience and will have great stories to tell our grandchildren! I encourage you to take care of yourselves and those around you and look for ways to help other Aggies! During this time, we must understand that many of our traditions at Texas A&M will look different, but the spirit of those traditions remains unchanged. Just as it has for 144 years, through times of crisis, from world wars to hurricanes, the Aggie Spirit will prevail!
