With the cheering support of our beautiful wives, Pi Phi Sorority sisters Ali Wilkerson ‘06 and Alison Babb ‘06, Josh Babb ‘05 and myself, Jered Wilkerson ‘05 ventured across the pond to Beat The Hell Outta the Berlin Marathon.

Josh, pictured right, has completed 5 marathons, 4 of them being World Majors, he’s looking to get London and Tokyo in the next 2 years. He amazingly accomplished a PR despite of illness at mile 20 and a freezing rain soaked run.

This was my first marathon. Bringing back memories of the Mike Sherman era, I jumped out to an early lead, midway through the 3rd quarter (mile 16) Berlin started an epic demoralizing comeback. Injury ridden and the clock ticking away at a Berlin late lead, the spirit of the 12th Man (and 50,000 cheering spectators) inspired a Sirr Parker esque last second cross of the finish line. In all seriousness, to all the marathoners I tip my hat and applaud you.

With tired sore legs we now head with the wives to the historic charm of Prague and Oktoberfest in Munich.
