An Aggie And Apollo 13

Joe Leeper '60 July 24, 2019 3:41 PM updated: August 5, 2019 1:37 PM

From a 2011 write-up in The Stingaree Tales about Joe Leeper '60 and his work with NASA:

"Apollo 13 was a very frightening time for America's space program, yet it also was one of the proudest moments for the entire space adventure. When the explosion occurred, the lives of the three astronauts (Jack Swigert, Fred Raise and Jim Lovell) were at stake and the world watched and waited while the ground crew and the entire support organization of the Manned Space Center went to work to find a solution and a way to bring them home safely.
Among the thousands of people working on solving the problems were three graduates of Texas City High School: Joe Leeper '56, D.D. Haney '55, and Ray Morris '56. These are their stories."
