Stanley L. Kucherka, Jr.
August 18, 1926 - December 27, 2018
Stanley Louis Kucherka, Jr., 92, of Rosenberg, Texas passed away on December 27, 2018. He was born in Columbus, Texas on August 18, 1926. He attended school in Columbus and Eagle Lake. Upon graduation from high school, he served in the U.S Navy from 1944-46.
After he was discharged he attended and graduated from Texas A & M University with a degree in civil engineering in 1950. He married Magdalene Dobrava on July 4, 1952. He served as the Fort Bend County Engineer and Drainage District Engineer for over 37 years.
He then practiced as a private engineering consultant for several years.
Stanley volunteered in numerous organizations including: Chairman of the Rosenberg Parks and Recreation Board for over 30 years, Member and past president of the Rosenberg Rotary Club, President and vice president of the Rosenberg-Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce,
recipient of the City of Rosenberg Citizenship Award, Knights of Columbus #2801 Grand Knight and District Deputy, Holy Rosary Catholic Church Parish Council president, bazaar chairman and school board president, along with numerous others.
The family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers at Brookdale Sugar Land, Optimum Personal Care Sugar Land and Fairmont Hospice for their loving care.
Stanley was an accomplished man, but his greatest legacy is his love and devotion to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Stanley is preceded in death by his wife, Magdalene Kucherka; son, Chris Kucherka; granddaughter, Kelly Suter; sister, Irene McKeon and brother, Wilbert Kucherka.
Survivors include his children, Kathy Kucherka Rod and husband, Glen; Kenny Kucherka, Cheryl Kucherka Suter and her husband, Phil, and James Kucherka and wife, Emily; grandchildren, Shannon Jedlicka and husband, Keith, Andrea Worthing and husband, Bart, Melissa
Lukefahr and husband, TJ, Emily Kubicek and husband, Myles, Andrew Suter, Jacob Kucherka and Lillie Kucherka; 9 great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, and a host of wonderful friends and extended family.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2019 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg. Burial with military honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
