Meet Your New Class of '08 Agents!

Jessica Davis '08 December 10, 2018 1:35 PM updated: December 10, 2018 1:51 PM

Howdy, Class of 2008!

We are excited for this opportunity to serve and represent you, the Class of 2008. We promise to serve as your Class “agents of change” with a platform consisting of three focus areas: relationships, innovation and service.

Relationships:
• When we attend the fall and spring class agent workshops, we will build relationships with other Class Agents to understand what lessons they’ve learned on how to best engage their classmates
• We will leverage contacts we have with the Texas A&M Young Alumni Council (YAAC) to strategize ways to engage and reach the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of ‘08, and keep you apprised of what the YAAC is doing and events that may be of interest
• We will seek out new opportunities to help the Class of 2008 strengthen their own personal networks

Innovation:
• Providing more alumni spotlights, updates on how the campus and city have changed since we graduated, and professional development-related content in Class newsletters
• Seeking out and communicating inspirational stories on how our financial contributions have made a difference in the lives of current students
• Given our strong ties to the Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Austin-San Antonio metro areas, we would like to find ways to create meaningful class events at a regional level
• Serve as an information channel between the Class of 2008 and The Association of Former students; we recognize that many of our classmates have great ideas on how to enhance our connection to the school, and we will strive to provide a platform for all of those ideas to be heard and considered

Service
A common bond we share is our demonstrated commitment to service. We were all involved in several student organizations while at A&M (including Fish Camp, Big Event, Maggies, and Traditions Council), and since graduation, we have continued to serve causes we are passionate about through our involvement in organizations such as the Texas A&M Young Alumni Advisory Council, the Junior League, the Houston Food Bank, National Association of Women MBAs, and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers’ Leadership Class. We are proud of the great work that Aggies are currently doing in our local communities, and want to share and spotlight our class’s service efforts.

If you have any additional ideas or specific events that you would like to see, please reach out to us, as we would love to brainstorm with you. If you have any news updates (i.e. job promotions, wedding announcements, birth announcements), please share those with us so we can all celebrate with you!

We are grateful for this opportunity to serve you!
Gig ‘em,
Jessica Neeley Davis, Stephanie Almeter, Jake Brown, Laura Krauss, Matthew Prisco

Jessica Neeley Davis
Jessica graduated from Texas A&M University in May 2008 with a BBA in Finance and Spanish minor. While at A&M, she was involved in student organizations including Fish Camp, the Big Event, Mays Business Fellows (Group XXVI), and the MSC L.T. Jordan Institute, and she worked at the Student Rec Center for three years. Her favorite college memories are serving as a fish camp co-chair for Camp Davis and her summer internship in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
After graduation, she moved to Dallas where she worked for TXU Energy as a business analyst, met her husband-to-be, and joined the Junior League. In 2013 Jessica moved to Houston to complete her MBA with a concentration in marketing in the full time MBA program at Rice University. Since graduating in 2015, she has worked in the Commodity Markets Advisory group at EY, where she focuses on providing comprehensive business transformation services to companies with commodity trading and hedging operations. Jessica married Brian Davis (Aggie class of 2005) in October 2015. They live in southwest Houston with their adorable corgi, Gizmo.
Since graduating from A&M, Jessica has continued her commitment to service both at work and within the community.

Stephanie Almeter
Stephanie Almeter is a Cum Laude graduate of Texas A&M University, where she was involved in numerous leadership organizations (MSC Aggie Leaders of Tomorrow, Maggies, Fish Camp) and awarded the J. Malon Southerland Aggie Leader Award, recognizing her commitment to servant leadership. She was also awarded the Aggie Bar Scholarship for exceptional promise in the legal field. Stephanie attended Baylor Law School in Waco, where her litigation skills were developed and honed through Baylor’s rigorous Practice Court program. While at Baylor Law, she was inducted into the Order of the Barristers for her achievements in advocacy and was very involved with Baylor’s nationally recognized advocacy teams.
After law school, Stephanie moved to Dallas where she joined McCathern as an associate in 2011, and was promoted to Partner in 2017. Her current practice focuses on general civil, business, and employment litigation. Stephanie has been recognized as a 2014 through 2018 Texas Rising Star, a peer-nominated accommodation given to the top 2.5 percent of eligible attorneys. In 2018, she was also voted by her peers as one of Dallas’s Best Lawyers Under 40 by D Magazine.   Stephanie is a proud former member of Texas A&M University’s Young Alumni Advisory Council (YAAC), wherein she was selected to actively promote and enhance the mission, values, and vision of Texas A&M University and The Association of Former Students by assisting and serving the needs of recent graduates through professional development, community service, social networking, and philanthropic endeavors. Jake Brown
Born and raised in San Antonio, Jake earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University. After graduation, Jake went to work for his family’s construction company in San Antonio as a project manager, and later director of the company’s commercial remodel group. Jake is currently a full-time student at Rice University, earning an MBA with an emphasis in finance. He interned as a management consultant at EY in 2018 and will be returning as a full-time consultant in 2019.
While at A&M, Jake was a Fish Camp Co-Chair as well as an officer in the Professional Association of Industrial Distribution (PAID). He was also involved as a staff member of the Big Event, and a member of Freshman Aggies Spreading Traditions (FAST). For the last 18 years, Jake’s family has hosted a tailgate near Olsen Field for every home football game.
Jake married Courtney Cooke (Aggie Class of 2009) In March of 2013. Together they have a son, Matthew (Aggie Class of 2038). Matthew is currently learning how to “Gig’em” and is perfecting his yells. They also have a dog named Coach Jimbo Sumlin Brown, whom they adopted in 2013. “Coach” is adjusting well to his recent name change.

Laura Krauss
Laura Krauss is a graduate of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie class of 2008 from San Antonio, currently living in Dallas. During her time at A&M, Laura participated in MSC Aggie Leaders of Tomorrow (ALOT), Traditions Council, Business Student Council, Maggies, Abbott Leadership Conference, and was a fish camp counselor (Whoop for Camp Benjamin and Camp Baker!) She worked in the Graduate Business Career Center at Mays Business School. While there are almost too many memories to count, one of her favorite experiences at A&M was going to Midnight Yell because it was such a unique experience that was so fun to share with fellow Aggies!
After graduating with a BBA in Marketing and a communications minor, Laura moved to Austin where she first worked as an event planner for Innovation Event Management, and then took on a catering and sales manager role for a local restaurant and catering company. She then moved to Dallas to work in corporate event planning for Deloitte. Deciding to get back to her degree but taking her event planning experience with her, Laura moved into a marketing role for a regional accounting firm in the DFW area, Huselton, Morgan & Maultsby. This past March, she decided to continue her career in marketing for a professional services firm, and is now working as a Regional Marketing Specialist for Seattle-based accounting and consulting firm Moss Adams.
Outside of work, Laura has participated in the Dallas Regional Chamber Young Professionals group and has spent time serving as a mentor at a women’s prep school in downtown Dallas. She is currently in her fourth year as a member of the Junior League of Dallas where she has volunteered 60 hours a year at various non-profit organizations. Laura enjoys traveling, live music, and participates in a bocce ball league and a book club. She is thankful for the Aggie network in Dallas, as she has met many Aggies that did not attend A&M at the same time as her who have now become dear friends because of the bond we share!
