Why did you want to become a Class Agent?
CT: I ran for Class Agent to help promote the Aggie Spirit and core values among my Classmates, former students and future Aggies. Texas A&M has afforded me many opportunities to learn, serve and develop since I first arrived on campus for FOW in 2007. I consider it a great honor to be able to serve as a Class Agent, which gives me an opportunity to return the favor.
KA: Much of my previous work with Aggies had been from an on-campus perspective. It's easy to bleed maroon when you are living in the heart of Aggieland. However, I want to keep my Classmates connected to Texas A&M and to be up-to-date with all the latest news and happenings - wherever they happen to be. I also want the Class of 2011 to realize that their contributions to Texas A&M can continue in many ways as a former student.
AS: During my time at Texas A&M, I was a Director in Class Councils. My favorite memories were the ones when former Class Council members came back to the University and talked to us about traditions and explained how they began, how they have evolved and how they have grown since their inception. We were taught how to keep the spirit of these traditions alive and that it takes passionate people like us to keep that spirit going, even after graduation. I felt becoming a class agent was the best way to keep our class connected and energized about the University we love so dearly.
MW: In my time at Texas A&M, I was very involved and connected on campus between student groups, class, and volunteer opportunities. As a Former Student, I missed that feeling of connectedness, and becoming a Class Agent lets me continue to serve a University that has given me so much while supporting the Class of 2011 and the Association. As Aggies, we have the unique opportunity to continue to support our University in a variety of ways, and being a Class Agent lets me give back to Texas A&M, even in a small way.
SP: I wanted to find a way to stay connected and continue to serve Texas A&M after graduating.
What goals do you have as a Class Agent?
CT: My goals are 1) to promote class unity; 2) keep the Class of 2011 updated on the achievements of our fellow Classmates and Texas A&M University, and; 3) encourage my Classmates to give generously, not only through donations, but also of their time.
I believe we should all invest in the further development of Texas A&M University and each other.
KA: Communication, connection and contribution. I want every member of the Class of 2011 to have the opportunity to hear the great things happening in Aggieland, to connect with one another and with Aggies of all generation, and to come together to continue leaving our legacy through gifts of time, talent and treasure.
AS: Our goal as a Class Agent group is to continue to connect our class of 2011 and keep them involved with the Aggie Network and each other. We have so many amazing class members that have already made huge accomplishments since graduation, class members that have started their own companies, and so many that have given back in huge ways to their communities. We would like to continue to share these accomplishments with our class, support each other, as well as keep them connected with all the advancements and growth of our university.
MW: My goals are to support our class through meaningful communications, provide opportunities to give back, plan class milestones to celebrate our time at Texas A&M, and to represent the core values of the university on behalf of the Class of 2011.
SP: I'd like to keep our class aware of what's happening on campus as well as what their fellow classmates are doing now. I also hope we can encourage our class to find different ways to give back to A&M.
What organizations were you a part of while at A&M?
CT: Corps of Cadets, SGA Executive Cabinet, Student Senate
KA: Served twice as Director of Grad Camp, as well as leadership roles in the Graduate and Professional Student Council and the 12th Man Student Foundation. Held multiple roles in the ALEC Graduate Student Society. Served as a representative on a number of university committees, including the Council for the Built Environment, Council for Strategic Budgeting, MSC Board of Directors, and on multiple awards selection committees.
AS: Class Councils (Ring Dance Director 2010, Class Treasurer 2010-2011) , Fish Camp Counselor (Camp Lallah 2009-2010, Camp Goodwin 2010-2011), David Gardeners Student Advisory Council (2007-2011), Class Agent (2010-Currently)
MW: I was very involved in Fish Camp, starting as a Counselor and ultimately becoming an Assistant Director my Senior Year. I was also in a sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, as well as involved with the Student Government Association through Parents Weekend and Fish Aides. I was awarded the Buck Weirus Spirit Award, a true honor.
