UT Health San Antonio names new chief human resources officer
SAN ANTONIO (May 24, 2018) Amy S. Tawney, M.B.A., SPHR, has joined UT Health San Antonio as vice president and chief human resources officer.
A collaborative and strategic leader, Tawney has more than 25 years of combined business and human resources experience in a variety of industries. She is skilled in partnering with leaders and developing successful talent strategies.
Most recently, Tawney served as corporate human resources vice president of organizational and talent effectiveness for Ascension, the largest nonprofit health system in the nation, and was based in Austin, Texas. She led a national team with responsibility
for performance management, talent planning and succession management, cultural change and employee engagement. During her tenure, Tawney was successful in developing and implementing a Center of Expertise for organization and talent effectiveness.

Prior to joining Ascension, Tawney held HR leadership roles with Baylor Scott & White, the largest not-for-profit health care system in Texas, and American Airlines, based in Fort Worth, Texas.
Tawney is a member of the board of directors for the Texas A&M University Aggie Women Network, recently serving as the 2017 president. She was also an alumni recipient of the Women of Excellence in Organizational Development Award from the University of Dallas.
Tawney has B.A. in psychology from Texas A&M University and M.B.A. from the University of Dallas Graduate School of Management.
