Last year, I threw my hat into the political arena as a took a run for Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office in the Republican Party. This was my first run for office. Although I did not win, I was able to get the message across the state that this position is not for a politician but for a qualified candidate in the field of cadastre sciences.
The Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office is a state-wide race with a four-year term. It is the official for the Texas General Land Office which is the oldest agency in Texas created in the first congress of the Republic of Texas in 1836. Its primary duty is to generate revenue for the Permanent School Fund through the sale and lease of Texas' sovereign lands.
