John Edward Blackburn was born August 24, 1941 in Marshall, Texas to John Addis Blackburn and Inez Bell Blackburn. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1959. John grew up hunting and fishing on Caddo Lake and always had a special place in his heart for it. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1963 with a degree in accounting. While attending A&M, he served in the Corps of Cadets, Company D-1 Spider D and attained the rank of commanding officer his senior year. He dearly loved his Aggies. In 1963, John was commissioned to the Army and served his country proudly for four years. He worked most of his life as a landman in the oil and gas industry until his retirement in 2010. John loved his grandchildren tremendously and enjoyed so much getting to watch their activities. John will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and the mother of his children, Sara Oliver Blackburn Youngblood.
