Garnet Winston Neely, Sr., 89, went to the arms of his Heavenly Father on September 13, 2017. Garnet was born on May 29, 1928, in Tolar, Texas, to parents Henry Clark Neely and Maggie May Deering Neely.
Garnet attended Texas A&M University and was a retired manager for Boeing.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Hallelujah Choir and the Langley Sunday School class. He served churches throughout his life as a Deacon, Sunday School superintendent and teacher, youth leader, and even builder.
Mr. Neely was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Elaine Moon Neely, his parents, two sisters, Maxine Neely Yetter and Mildred Neely DeWitt; his brothers, Windell Deering Neely, Henry Clark Neely Jr., and James Harold Neely.
Survivors include his children, Janet Neely Cashion and husband Robert of Huntsville, George R. Neely of Huntsville, Windell Deering Neely and wife Mabel of Seattle, WA, Garnet W. Neely Jr. and wife Xiao-Li of Seattle, WA, and Linda Neely Reed and husband Charles
of Wakefield, MA; his brother, Othel M. Neely of Waco, TX; grandchildren, Le Thi Neely, Helen M. Neely, Alisa M. Neely, Robert Matthew Cashion, Elizabeth Reed Porter and husband Jason, Garnet W. Neely III, Andrew W. Reed, Winston R. Neely, CeeKay Fernandez,
Georgia Rose Neely, Nicole Fernandez, and Erin Mei Neely; two great grandchildren, Sophia Jumper and Noah Porter; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, 600 Governors Drive, Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 1:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 2:00. The service will be conducted by The Reverend Mark Seanor.
Memorial donations may be made to the Music Ministry of First Baptist Church or the Mosaic Restoration at First Baptist Church.
