The Texas A&M vs UCLA game is proceeding as planned on Sunday, as are related events surrounding it, and we wanted to make sure you have information about them. Also be aware that clear-bag restrictions are in place for those attending the game (UCLA policies are here).
Read on for details about:
-
Harvey relief awareness
- UCLA game Midnight Yell Practice and All-Aggie Tailgate
- Aggie Band at Disneyland and in Pasadena
- Pre-game Rose Bowl flyover by Aggie pilot
- Aggie events in California on Aug. 31 and Sept. 4
- Football tickets unused due to Harvey
The Aggie football team will wear special helmet stickers to help bring awareness to the plight of the thousands of families impacted by Hurricane Harvey (read more
here), and we are keeping them all in the forefront of our minds and efforts as events unfold.
Ways you may be able to assist the Harvey relief efforts can be found in the special Harvey forums The Association of Former Students created in partnership with the Texas A&M Foundation and TexAgs at
tx.ag/HarveySupport. In particular, this thread has ways you can help even if you are far from the devastation:

With A&M playing UCLA in the Rose Bowl on Sunday, Sept. 3, Aggies will gather on Saturday night, Sept. 2, in the Old Town Pasadena district for Midnight Yell Practice.
Go to
tx.ag/awaygames for all the details about the location, Aggie HQ, food/drink specials for Aggies before yell practice, and the free All-Aggie Tailgate on Sunday, Sept. 3.
The Association of Former Students will livestream Midnight Yell Practice at
facebook.com/AggieNetwork.
The Association and local A&M Clubs partner to host away-game Midnight Yell Practices and All-Aggie Tailgates. The tailgates have free food and drinks thanks to sponsors including Aggieland Outfitters.
The Aggie Band upperclassmen are traveling to the game and nearby events, with part of the costs defrayed by The Association.
They will march at halftime of the game Sept. 3, and in addition will perform Sept. 2 at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., marching in a 4 p.m. parade inside the amusement park (Disneyland tickets required to attend).
On Sept. 3, the Aggie Band will have an open rehearsal from noon to approximately 1:30 p.m. at
South Pasadena High School before heading to the Rose Bowl.
U.S. Navy Cmdr. Christopher Edwards '01 will lead the pregame flyover (a UCLA alumnus will also be part of the flight). His squadron, VX-9 out of Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, will have its F/A-18 Super Hornet jets on display for public viewing Saturday, Sept. 2, from 1 to 4 p.m. at
Hollywood Burbank (Bob Hope) Airport.
Aggies will also gather in San Diego on Aug. 31 to watch a different flyover by Edwards; see next item.
The Association staffers who set up Midnight Yell Practice and the All-Aggie Tailgate at away games are
visiting as many A&M Clubs as they can along the way. These stops are upcoming in California, and they would love to meet with you:
- San Diego, Aug. 31: Flyover of the USS Midway by an Aggie pilot, U.S. Navy Cmdr. Christopher Edwards '01, preceded by a happy hour and dinner with the San Diego County A&M Club. Details
- Bakersfield, Sept. 4: Lunch at Black Bear Diner with the Bakersfield A&M Club. Details
- Ridgecrest, Sept. 4: Dinner at Casey’s Steaks and BBQ with the Ridgecrest A&M Club. Details
If you know Aggies who had planned to attend the game but will be unable to attend because of Harvey’s impact, they may be able to resell their tickets to other Aggies, and if they do so through StubHub they may be eligible to a rebate of StubHub’s fees. If the reason for reselling the ticket is Harvey-related, they may send the email address used for StubHub to the
Southern California A&M Club president and he may be able to secure them the rebate (note the rebate is of the StubHub fees only).
