Texas A&M University held a ceremonial grand opening of the Quad on Aug. 23, showing off what officials say was the largest renovation since it was first built in 1939.
As part of the renovations over the past six years, the dorm interiors were completely redone, creating a safer, more efficient space for cadets to live in while in the Corps. In addition, the interior and exterior of the Quad received a much needed facelift, with new paving, new lighting, new benches, and new landscaping.
Four Leadership Learning Centers (left) were also built on the Quad, providing state-of-the-art academic facilities complete with modern learning technologies, plus individual and group study spaces for cadets.
The grand opening event began with a reception in Duncan Dining Hall, followed by a short
dedication program with remarks from the Chairman of The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents, Charles Schwartz; System Chancellor John Sharp '72; and Texas A&M University President Michael K. Young. The dedication ceremony was followed by a ribbon-cutting and tours.
