Texas A&M School of Law in San Antonio

Texas A&M University School of Law, based in Fort Worth, has announced the fall opening of its San Antonio Center, which will house the school’s new Masters of Jurisprudence degree program, also launching this fall. The Center, which will be located within Travis Park Plaza at 711 Navarro Street, will also serve as the hub for the Texas A&M School of Law Business Speaker series, an initiative to bring the knowledge and resources of our outstanding faculty directly to the San Antonio business and legal communities. “Our mission as part of Texas’s premier public, land-grant university is to be a law school serving the entire state of Texas. Establishing the San Antonio Center is a major step toward fulfilling that mission,” said Texas A&M Law Professor Mark Burge, who directs the San Antonio program.

The Center is located in the heart of the San Antonio Central Business District and will be a convenient and practical location for Aggie experts in business law to engage with leaders—and future leaders—in commerce and industry in Bexar County. Perhaps the most far-reaching impact of the San Antonio Center will be through the launch of a Masters of Jurisprudence degree program that is uniquely built from the ground up to meet the needs of individuals seeking to advance their careers in business with a Texas A&M graduate degree in law.

The Masters of Jurisprudence —or “M.Jur.”—concentration in business, taught at the San Antonio Center, offers a graduate-level degree program for working adults who seek to advance their careers with a higher level understanding of law as it impacts business. “This masters degree is designed for professionals working in positions involving compliance, risk management, contracting and negotiation, human resources, and more,” said Professor Burge. “We are particularly excited about offering a degree that is structured to accommodate the scheduling demands of San Antonio –area residents engaged in full-time business careers.” The blended classroom experience balances twice weekly evening classes with online content for maximum flexibility, and is now accepting applications for its fall 2017 entering class at http://law.tamu.edu/sanantonio.

Additionally, registration is now open for the next San Antonio Business Speaker Series event, which will be at noon on Tuesday, August 1 at The Dominion Country Club. The event will feature Professor Angela D. Morrison, an expert in immigration and workplace law, who will address the timely topic of what employers should do in light of existing and expected changes in immigration policy and law. Come learn what every business and legal professional should know about best practices regarding challenges to businesses’ staffing strategies, shifting international travel policies, and potential increases in worksite raids. The event is free and includes lunch, space permitting, but attendees must register in advance at http://law.tamu.edu/SA-programs.
